Wisconsin Congressman Tom Tiffany stated Sunday that he sustained minor injuries after the plane he was traveling in executed an emergency landing on Lake Wausau. Tiffany, who is running for Governor of Wisconsin, explained in a social media statement that he was returning from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner when the aircraft lost power on approach to the Wausau Downtown Airport, compelling the pilot to set the plane down in the water. As the aircraft began to submerge, Tiffany and the pilot managed to exit and swam to a shallow area to await emergency personnel. Tiffany expressed profound gratitude to the pilot, the Wausau Fire Department, and all the rapid-response teams. Both occupants sustained only minor injuries. His Democratic opponent, David Crowley, shared his relief that Tiffany and the pilot avoided serious harm, praising the pilot’s heroism. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office initially reported the incident at 9 p.m. local time, and the Federal Aviation Administration has taken over the investigation. Reflecting on the event, Tiffany noted that his wife, Chris, joined him at the hospital, emphasizing how precious life is.
