Whist drive ticket embedded in rock and a news article about the Great Train Robbers are among items discovered during a 10-year restoration of Buckingham Palace.

Lost or long-discarded objects that offer glimpses of the behind-the-scenes lives of palace staff over decades have been uncovered as work continues on the UK monarchy’s headquarters.

Misplaced belongings, found beneath floorboards, in other areas of the royal residence and preserved within the fabric of the building, include a ticket to a whist drive run by the royal household’s social club from nearly 80 years ago, alongside the newspaper clippings and other ephemera recovered during the project.
