Trump downplays AI checks, says he won’t cede edge to China

Former President Donald Trump said he acknowledged the need for some regulation of artificial intelligence but provided no specifics about what those rules would entail.

He attributed warnings that the technology is moving too quickly and with insufficient oversight to “negative forces” he did not identify, and said he does not want the United States to cede its edge to China.
