A digital forensic detective laid out a chilling timeline detailing what Dr. Tomasz Kosowski researched and documented in the months before prosecutors say he killed Largo attorney Steven Cozzi. Detective Lance Moore with the Largo Police Department testified that Kosowski’s digital footprint revealed searches regarding Cozzi, Cozzi’s home, and a paralyzing medication prior to the 2023 murder. Moore also stated that Kosowski captured a photograph of Cozzi’s husband’s car at their residence a month before the incident. Kosowski, who waived his right to a jury trial and chose to represent himself, faced first-degree murder charges in connection with Cozzi’s disappearance. Cozzi vanished in March 2023 after visiting the restroom at the Blanchard Law office where he worked, leaving behind his phone, keys, and wallet. Court records indicated that Kosowski was involved in a bitter legal dispute with his former employer, and Cozzi was representing opposing parties. Prosecutors presented surveillance footage from the day Cozzi disappeared, showing an individual entering the building with a large box and later wheeling a heavy wagon to a Toyota Tundra. Investigators reported discovering Cozzi’s blood in the law firm’s bathroom, inside the Tundra, and within Kosowski’s Tarpon Springs garage. The state pursued the death penalty as the trial proceeded under Judge Joseph Bulone.
