Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s partner, Ken Urker, has died at the age of 34, according to the Lafourche Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to a residence in Raceland, Louisiana, around 6:15 p.m. Thursday. Capt. Brennan Matherne stated that Urker was found dead upon arrival, and an investigation into the cause and circumstances of his death is currently underway. In a statement provided to People magazine, Blanchard expressed profound shock over the loss. The 35-year-old first connected with Urker while serving a prison sentence for her role in the 2015 murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. The couple shares a 21-month-old daughter named Aurora. “Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved,” Blanchard said in her statement. She added that she was in total disbelief and had screamed until her throat burned. Writing on Instagram, Blanchard shared that Urker would always remain her greatest love story and would be remembered and loved forever. The pair were previously engaged in 2018 and later resumed their relationship following Blanchard’s separation from her ex-husband, Ryan Anderson. Blanchard and Anderson split up in early 2024, just three months after marrying while she was still behind bars. Blanchard had been sentenced to 10 years for second-degree murder over the death of her mother, who was killed by Blanchard’s then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. Having accused her mother of subjecting her to years of medical child abuse, Blanchard was released in 2023 after serving seven years. Godejohn received a life sentence. While law enforcement has not officially confirmed an official cause of death, Blanchard told People magazine that Urker died from an overdose. She noted that he had not been in a good state of mind lately and had recently experienced intense cyberbullying. On her Instagram story, Blanchard emphasized that the cruelty directed toward Urker was something no human should ever have to endure. She expressed hope that his passing would serve as a reminder that real people exist behind every screen, headline, and comment.
