The Kennedy Center said Friday that the 49th annual Kennedy Center Honors will take place at Washington’s Capital One Arena. Few other details were immediately available, and the center did not provide an explanation for the change in venue.

The announcement comes amid a dispute over whether to include former President Donald Trump’s name on the honors, a controversy that has drawn public attention as plans for the ceremony were finalized.

No date for the event or list of honorees was released with the statement. The Kennedy Center has handled logistics and communications for the awards, which traditionally celebrate lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts.

Representatives for the Kennedy Center did not immediately respond to requests for further comment about the move to Capital One Arena or the status of discussions over naming.
