President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that he believes the ongoing conflict with Iran will conclude immediately following the midterm elections because Tehran can no longer sustain the pressure, adding that gas prices are expected to drop once the war ends. The U.S. launched major joint military operations with Israel against Iranian sites on February 28. Although delegations entered negotiations in June, both nations have continued exchanging strikes, focusing heavily on the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi criticized a new International Atomic Energy Agency resolution concerning Tehran’s nuclear program as based on fabrications, following an IAEA report to the U.N. Security Council regarding cooperation issues at undeclared sites. In maritime incidents, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported a tanker struck by an unknown projectile southeast of Al-Faw, Iraq, with safe crew members, and another vessel listing off Port Rashid in the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned recent U.S. attacks on Iranian commercial oil tankers, characterizing its subsequent retaliatory strikes against U.S. military assets in Jordan and aggressive vessels as defensive measures.
