Florida Poll Shows GOP Leads in Governor and Senate Races

Republican candidate Byron Donalds holds a 7-percentage-point advantage over Democrat David Jolly in the Florida governor’s race, according to a recent NBC South Florida/Telemundo Station Group poll. Meanwhile, Republican Sen. Ashley Moody leads by 10 points in her matchup against Democratic challenger Angie Nixon. Donalds, a congressman from the state’s southwest region, stands at 48% in the survey compared to Jolly’s 41%, backed by a commanding financial edge. In the Senate contest, Moody registers at 50% against Nixon’s 40%. Nixon advanced to the general election following a primary victory in August. These findings arrive during a period of broader Democratic optimism regarding the 2026 midterms, as public surveys indicate competitive races in traditionally red states, though the Florida data underscores potential limits to that momentum. The survey also evaluated the influential bloc of Hispanic voters in South Florida. Donalds leads Jolly 48% to 43% among Hispanic voters, while Moody leads Nixon 47% to 40%. Concurrently, President Donald Trump’s job approval rating among all likely voters sits split at 48% approving and 48% disapproving, with a 49% disapproval rating specifically among Hispanic respondents. Inflation and the cost of living emerged as the primary concern for 30% of voters, followed by the direction of the state or country at 17%. Immigration enforcement and property taxes also ranked prominently among voter priorities across demographic lines.
