Former GOP Rep. David Rivera has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after a federal jury in May convicted him on all counts linked to clandestine lobbying for Venezuela’s government under former President Nicolás Maduro.
Jurors found Rivera guilty of charges that include failing to register as a foreign agent and conspiracy to commit money laundering, stemming from his undisclosed work on behalf of Maduro’s administration. Rivera has been jailed since the May verdict.
