Two Iranian men have been charged in connection with an alleged plot to target Manchester’s Jewish community, police said.
Rahman Salehi, 35, and Salam Ahmadyan, 36, were arrested on 20 September — on the eve of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar — and have been charged with preparing to commit an act of terrorism or assisting another to commit an act of terrorism.
Authorities say the charges relate to an alleged terror plot aimed at members of the Jewish community in Manchester. Further details about the alleged plan have not been disclosed.
The arrests and charges were reported by police and covered in national media. Court appearances and case progress are expected to follow the charging announcement.
