The U.S. Coast Guard has provided an update on the ongoing search for a missing Ontario air ambulance jet that vanished off the coast of Massachusetts with six people on board. The Gulfstream G100 jet, operated by Hamilton-based Latitude Air Ambulance, lost contact with air traffic controllers at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday while flying from Bermuda to Boston. Search crews subsequently located a debris field confirmed to be associated with the aircraft near Nantucket. The flight carried four Canadians, including two pilots and two medical workers, alongside a patient and the patient’s relative. A spokesperson for Nantucket Memorial Airport stated that the aircraft reportedly declared an emergency prior to losing contact. Audio from air traffic communications captured a New York control center interacting with a flight appearing to flag an emergency. The U.S. Coast Guard’s northeast district deployed multiple air and marine assets, covering more than 4,000 square kilometres. Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand expressed deep concern over the disappearance, noting that Global Affairs Canada is in touch with relevant authorities. Canadian officials remain prepared to offer support as rescue efforts continue.
