Apple revealed its newest smartphone lineup on Wednesday during its annual fall showcase, featuring the company’s inaugural foldable device alongside the iPhone 18. The event marked the public debut of new CEO John Ternus, who took over the role earlier this month following Tim Cook. The standard iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max begins at $1,299, with sales set to start on September 12. Prices are higher than previous generations due partly to a global memory chip shortage. Powered by the new A20 chip featuring a six-core CPU with two super cores, the iPhone 18 is up to 20% faster and incorporates enhanced AI tools through Apple Intelligence, which is designed to process tasks primarily on the device or via private cloud resources to protect user privacy. The new phones are offered in black, silver, glacier blue, and burgundy. In addition, Ternus unveiled Apple’s first foldable phone, named the iPhone Duo. Starting at $1,999 for 256 GB of storage, the device is roughly the size of a passport when folded and comes in star white and night sky. Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo begin on October 16, with shipping to follow on October 23.
