Diesel has risen about 40% since the start of the year, so filling an average family car now costs around £110 — nearly £32 more than before US and Israel launched strikes on Iran in late February.
The eight-month-long war has disrupted key global shipping routes and blocked supplies from Gulf oil producers. On Friday, G7 countries including the UK, under pressure from US president Donald Trump, released 100 million barrels of oil and diesel.
