Trump Super PAC to Cover Promotional Ad Campaign Costs

President Donald Trump announced Monday night that he will no longer use taxpayer funds to pay for a pro-Trump promotional ad blitz ahead of the midterm elections, stating that his super PAC will now cover the expenses. While dismissing criticism of the television spots as a rather standard practice, the president noted that he decided to run them using his own resources and funds raised by MAGA, Inc. rather than relying on U.S. government money. The controversial ads had drawn pushback for mirroring campaign spots while being financed through government funds. The administration previously defended the broadcasts, but the decision shifts the financial burden directly to political accounts as the debate over public spending continues.
