Trump Rally in Texas Sees Protesters Ejected From Venue

Several hecklers were removed from President Trump’s political rally at San Antonio’s Freeman Coliseum late Wednesday. At least 10 individuals were either escorted out of the building by security and law enforcement or chose to leave after interrupting the event, prompting jeers from the audience as Mr. Trump mocked the demonstrators. The visit marked the president’s third trip to Texas in recent weeks to support Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton, who faces a competitive contest against Democratic candidate James Talarico. Less than 10 minutes into the speech, a demonstrator moved away from the stage while shouting. A man in a red hat grabbed the person’s hair and ignited a brief physical altercation, prompting nearby attendees to intervene and separate them. After the individual exited, the president asked the crowd if there was anything quite like a Trump rally. For the following hour, security personnel escorted several other protesters out of the venue amid booing from supporters. In certain instances, Trump backers and demonstrators clashed physically before being pulled apart. At least one person was handcuffed prior to being led outside by law enforcement. Mr. Trump poked fun at multiple attendees who were removed, remarking that one person needed to lose weight and describing others as poor-looking. CBS News reached out to local authorities and the U.S. Secret Service for additional information regarding the ejections.
